We hope to spread our love of chess with the community by offering free chess lessons with training games and playing tutorials. We accept students of all levels, and we wil connect students with the best-fit teacher according to the survey below.
Tyler Kim has been an avid chess player since eighth grade, having played in multiple chess tournaments. He is currently a senior at Parkview School and is the President of Yorba Linda High School's chess club. Chess transcends age, culture, time, and language--he loves teaching strategies and tactics of this universal royal game.
Vladyslav Shevkunov currently attends UC Berkeley. He is currently rated 2219, has achieved the National Master title, and is the 23th best 17 year old in the nation. One of his most notable achievement includes winning the Chicago Open U2100 section.
We will be offering three lesson types, which are adjusted on an individual basis.
We will teach students in this class how to play chess and teach them the basics of strategic play
We will teach students strategic play during a practice game in this class. We will also pair up students of similar levels to play against each other.
